The place was very clean and offered good value for money, and it’s within walking distance of St Leonards and the old town – perfect for a short one‑night stay for an event. The staff were friendly, though the room was a bit drafty, which we managed.

There was no breakfast, but the staff were helpful. The radiators didn’t work, the bed mattress should’ve been replaced years ago and it hurt my back, and the boats were back.

The view of the coast was lovely, and the towels and bedding were clean. I only saw staff on the day I collected the key; after that we never saw anyone. When we came back one evening after a day out, the room door wasn’t closed properly as it had been earlier. New towels, tea, and coffee had been left on the floor outside the door. The window was broken and wouldn’t close. In October the air got chilly and I had to keep the heating on. In the mornings, when I took a shower, there was no hot water and the water was freezing. Nobody was around to report this directly. The building interior looked like it needed a refresh, but the room served its purpose as a base.
