From the moment we reached out to Johnson and Carol before arriving at Jayden Lodge, we felt secure. They proved to be a warm, friendly, caring, and attentive family who made us feel part of their environment right away. The welcome was first‑rate, and Johnson enthusiastically described Shuhe, the countryside, the walks, and all the hikes available to us. Our room was exceptional; we felt extremely relaxed and at ease with the surroundings. It was so comfortable and spacious that we slept perfectly for three nights, waking refreshed each morning. Every morning we had an outstanding breakfast freshly prepared by Johnson and Carol with a little help from their son Jayden. The location is ideal—you can explore Shuhe within a few minutes on foot but then retreat back into the quiet relaxation of the lodge. The street leading by the lodge is part of the Tea Horse Road that led to Tibet, and part of it is easily walked to provide a stunning view over Lijiang and Shuhe. This accommodation is exceptional in every detail. The whole stay passed too quickly for us, and we wanted to stay longer if we hadn’t already had plans. Highly recommended.
