Ibersol Almuñecar Beach & Spa Hotel

The area where the hotel is located and the staff’s attention to guests are positives. The buffet leaves a lot to be desired, and aside from breakfast the rest is awful with very little variety. Cleanliness is okay, but could be better; the exterior looks one thing and the interior another, and the furniture needs a makeover.

The room was great with a view and a fairly large bed, like an airport bed, and the elevators were super fast, almost no waiting. The relaxation courtyard with pools was amazing. The dining was a huge disappointment. The dining room was chaotic, and there was always something missing, like long waits for glasses or coffee lines. It seemed there was a lack of staff, so they couldn’t refill food or set tables. The dining area had trash boxes and dirty dishes.

The staff were wonderful, and the reception spoke and understood English well. Those in the dining room were not as fluent but always willing to help and find someone for you. Nothing was too much for them. The outdoor pool was good (the jacuzzi was a little cold). The indoor spa was amazing with a ‘2 for 1’ offer on Fridays. Three jacuzzis including a great ‘lemon’ jacuzzi, two good‑sized dry saunas and a steam room. I really liked the shower that has multiple jets positioned for feet, mid section and top of body, then a downpour from the overhead shower; all come on automatically in sequence and at different temperatures from hot to cold. There were also large cold and hot plunge pools and an ice room for scrubbing yourself down with ice! Other showers opposite the saunas were strong and excellent. Everything was clean. No complaints and the price was good. The outside jacuzzi was a bit cold; in the UK we prefer them warmer! More dishes that do not contain pork (or alcohol) would be welcomed. Even the spaghetti Bolognese was made with pork mince! Food was OK for the price, but avoid the lamb chops—they are tiny and REALLY tough!
