Redwood House

Everything was perfect. The breakfast was very varied and tasty. The two‑storey apartment felt like a private holiday cabin, complete with its own fridge as an extra. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The parking space was spacious.

I loved how remote it was and the view of sheep grazing from my window. I could also walk to the building with a library, tables for writing, or just sit and look out over the inlet. The hiking and exploring were wonderful, and I enjoyed visiting Portree and its excellent restaurant. I was shocked how cold it was, so bring a good raincoat and warm jumper. It rains a lot, so be prepared for rain. I was there in July and it was still cold, which is expected. Redwood House lies north of Portree.

A nice house by the loch with good breakfast and dinner. It was a bit out of the way and you have to drive on a road full of potholes to get there. That downside gives you a great view of local sheep grazing. Our restroom had a strange sewage smell that never seemed to get aired out. The dinner is good but a bit expensive.

The room was very comfortable, spacious, with a nice bed, good pillows, and good heating. Our view was spectacular, overlooking the lake. We were told the chef was not there, so breakfast was just cereals, ham, cheese and loaf bread. We decided not to take it, which was very disappointing.

Breakfast was good, a Scottish breakfast. Service was spotty and they gave me cheap tea. The room was very dated, which is fine, but the comforter had stains and the towels were over‑worn. The location was terrible—must drive through 2 miles of single‑lane pot‑holed road. The sitting area was worn and old, with only a few comfortable chairs. Overall service and supplies were lacking.
