The spot is in a solid spot, easy to get to and close to everything I needed. But the bed bugs were a nightmare – I got bites all over. The kitchen gear was old and the pots and pans looked like they'd seen better days.

Got a great deal for the price, and the pool area was a highlight – plenty of space and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the stay feel extra welcoming.

The hotel sits in Southport, a couple of stops from Surfers Paradise, Cavill, and Cypress Avenues, so getting around was easy. Unfortunately, the room was filthy, the shared bathroom was a mess with clogged toilets and uncleaned poop, and I could hear the TV from the next room all the time.

The kitchen was a disaster – filthy, probably because the guests don't clean up. There were a lot of weird people staying there, some even living in the hostel. The worst part was the bed bugs – I got at least 20 bites. The price was high for such a bad place, especially in the off‑season. Australia needs to do something about housing; camps cost $65 a night for a patch of grass, and this hostel with bed bugs is almost $40.
