Hotel Balmes, a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is situated in central Barcelona, a 5-minute walk from Passeig de Gràcia Boulevard. This hotel features a seasonal pool, gym, and modern rooms with satellite TV, parquet floors, and smart décor. B Bar showcases African art, and staff assist with tour bookings and event reservations. Gaudí's Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are within a 10-minute walk.

The hotel is beautiful and elegant, with an excellent location; there are plenty of restaurants, shops and supermarkets within walking distance, and we even walked to the Sagrada Familia. If you enjoy exploring the city on foot and stopping for coffee along the way, this is a great spot, and taxis were reasonably priced for getting around Barcelona. The room and bathroom were very nice and elegant, and we appreciated the complimentary tickets to the Egyptian Museum, which was a nice touch. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, so I cannot comment on the restaurant. The soundproofing could be better, as we could hear water running from the room above, people in the hallways, and neighboring guests opening and closing their safes; the beds also have wheels, so movement from neighboring rooms was noticeable. The bathroom was beautiful, although I felt the layout could have been more practical. These were minor inconveniences that would not stop me from staying here again, but better soundproofing would make the experience even nicer.

The staff on arrival were fabulous and welcoming, very helpful throughout our stay, and there were great restaurants nearby; we were able to walk everywhere and could walk to Barcelona Sants easily.

The hotel sits in the city center, but you’ll need to hop on the bus or walk 10 minutes to hit the metro. The rooms feel dated for a 4‑star place, the value doesn’t match the price, and we regretted booking it. The bed was old with visible wear on the sides, bathroom tiles were broken, and the air‑conditioning offered only a single setting—on or off—without any middle ground.
