“Find et andet sted at bo!!!”

Close to the station, but nothing else worth mentioning. Every day the ladies’ toilet downstairs ran out of toilet paper, so if you needed to go and someone else was already there it was just bad luck. Twice we found no bath towels; six towels were left in the evening but they were all gone by 7 am when we wanted to shower. The walls were paper-thin, and the beds were so bad we needed a serious back massage. The owner didn’t speak English and we felt a little uneasy when she crept around the hallways. It was really pricey for a 40–60 minute trip to Gion/Kyoto. The room was dusty and the beds were locked together so we couldn’t separate them.

“最悪”

The building is a repurposed old rural house operating as a guesthouse. Inside, the hallway floor is uneven, some sliding doors don’t open, the toilet and bath are shared, the facilities are very poor, and hot water is hard to get. The structure itself shows no improvement in its aging frame or foundation. It would not cope with a major disaster and cannot be rated as a lodging facility under Japanese standards; it falls below the threshold for a paid “accommodation”.

おかみさんがとてもいい人で、優しい気持ちになれました。. 近くに飲食店がなく、コンビニも歩いて１０分くらいのところまで行かないとありませんでした。

The owner handled everything very carefully, and the room’s cleaning was meticulous. The air‑con and lighting were new and comfortable. The shower and toilet were a bit basic, so women might need to be cautious.

The hostess seemed nice and the room had enough beds. However, there were no curtains, so we had to keep asking other guests to turn off lights at midnight and 2 am on several nights. The hostel’s noise and light policy was lacking, especially compared to the one we stayed at in Kanazawa. For the almost 900 AUD we paid, it felt overcharged. When we messaged the host about the problems, we received no response.
