“Terrible”
The photos were not real. I absolutely did not like it. Terrible. From the moment of arrival to check‑out we had the owner being very pushy about selling us tours and chauffeur services, to the point of going two or three times a day to knock on our room door. The room was not pleasant, the walls were ultra‑thin so you could hear everything happening in the building. To be able to sleep the owner even explained how to unplug the fridge because it was so noisy and the toilet was even more noisy each time the cistern was flushed. The shower water temperature was impossible to regulate, it went from cold to hot without touching the single‑control. No bath curtain, so every shower meant the bathroom flooded. Besides all this, the windows did not exist because the curtains hid black glass and to get sunlight you had to open the window, which let in heat and dust. Breakfast was bad, among all the ones we had in different hotels in Giza it was the worst quality. If you order laundry service he gives you a bag, which he empties on a table and then he starts touching each piece of your dirty underwear to count them, a disgusting moment, even more so being a woman. We stayed 5 nights, each day, when he saw us leaving he made comments to my companion that I “watch” the men… (referring to my western clothing), which was quite uncomfortable for both of us, I felt more judged and observed by him than walking on the street, even he made a comment “I hope you carry a gun in your pocket with a woman like that” on one of the occasions. If you order Uber or a driver not through him he chases you to the taxi door in a very harassing aggressive attitude towards the driver, asking where you’re going… Our flight was at 6 pm and we preferred to stay at a McDonald’s making time from check‑out at 11 am to keep spending time there.
