The location was beautiful, the staff were very helpful, the place was clean, and the food was amazing, but people using mobile phones in the spa shower and pool area—talking on FaceTime, taking photos—interfered with privacy and made relaxing difficult; it was a shame because the spa itself was lovely.

The location was nice, and the front‑desk staff were welcoming, but for my 40th birthday I had arranged balloons and a surprise in the room, and the front desk never responded after discussing it; there were no little touches or a note from the hotel, no upgrade offer even though the hotel wasn’t full, and they still held a £50 incidental on our card without refunding it. We had a small snack and champagne, yet the bar staff chased us to the sports bar to pay our bill even after we gave them our room number and said we were staying; they made us feel uncomfortable. The room lacked milk for the coffee machine and was dusty, with dust visible on the small round tables. For a special occasion the little things matter, and the Fairmont has lost its touch. I wouldn’t recommend it. The spa was nice, but a young girl was very assertive and asked why I was in reception (I’d just come out of the pool waiting for my son and husband). The bar food was okay; the liver pâté was over‑seasoned with too much clarified butter, the quinoa was bland, the champagne was flat, and even my son’s chips were cold and too salty. The whole experience was underwhelming and we didn’t feel welcome at all.
