“I was glad to have a place to land in Chennai”
The staff were mostly available and helpful whenever I had a request; I liked the soft light options in the room, the AC worked smoothly, and I felt safe. I could leave the hotel freely early in the morning because the gates were unlocked. The location was good: walking distance to the Marina and the temple, 20 minutes by car to the station. Personally, the main advantage was that it was near a friend’s place, restaurants, and taxis were readily available. The taxi driver and I had trouble finding the hotel and couldn’t get a helpful phone number; the number I found returned an error, and when I reached the hotel’s central office I was told I needed to book first, all while the meter kept running—very stressful! Nevertheless, I was glad to finally arrive and meet the friendly, polite reception. Routine cleaning seemed to have been done (bed sheets washed, floors swept), but I had to call staff to sweep and mop under the bed. The heavy duvet I removed from the bed cover because it was too hot had a large stain of dried blood; I stored it in a small cupboard that I wouldn’t want to keep clothes in. I was bothered by the 24‑hour corridor light shining into the room (despite a curtain), yet I slept fine with an eye‑blinder I brought. The toilet seat was loose to the point of coming off.
