Located in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, The Royal Oak Inn is a family-run traditional inn since 1995, situated 100 yards up the steep hill leading to The Dales Way Walk. The inn offers 2 floors of cosy ensuite rooms with free Wi-Fi, TV, radio alarm clock, and tea/coffee facilities. It serves full English breakfast, homemade bar meals, and vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

The place was as I expected it to be. We asked if we could have potatoes instead of chips with the steak pie, but it wasn’t possible—unusual for a hotel, never had this before. The chips were frozen and not the best quality, with lots of black eyes in them.

The location is convenient and the breakfast is good, but parking is limited and can be difficult if you’re driving a van.

The room was spacious and spotless, and the staff were very welcoming; the food was also very good.

Location was great easy walking distance from Beatrix Potter museum and many restaurants staff welcoming and friendly great breakfast
