“Comfortable interesting and great staff”

I loved this spot. Rural Spain at its best. A bull‑rearing farm. The staff were fantastic – they cooked for me when I arrived after 9 pm following a long drive from Santander. The place was comfortable, clean, and full of intriguing art. I’d go back and spend more time exploring the farm. It’s quite hard to find in the dark; you have to follow your instinct and Google, which isn’t totally reliable in El Ronquillo. However, the owner gave good, helpful instructions and the signage was okay. It’s about 20 mins off the motorway.

Everything: the lovely rooms and good beds, several terraces, and a beautiful saltwater pool. Experiencing life on a farm that breeds fighting bulls, and above all the warm, friendly Tirado family. The road from El Ronquillo to the hereda is 7 km over a bumpy path and another 7 km over gravel; make sure to arrive during the day and allow enough time to walk the route.
