“Don’t count on the hotel being open despite having a booking.”

Hard to say. I arrived as scheduled to be met outside a locked door, only to learn the owner had decided to renovate the hotel that very day, so it was closed and no one had informed me. On the bright side, the person who delivered the news helped me find another hotel and paid for the tuk‑tuk there. The fact that they accepted my booking and then told me they were closed for renovations when I arrived is the real downside.

“A hidden gem”

The staff were lovely, considerate, and very helpful, and the pool was refreshing after a day in the Phnom Penh heat. The decor felt a little dated and tired but didn’t detract from our stay, and the entrance from the street didn’t look like a hotel, so I thought our Grab driver had dropped us off at the wrong address.

We only stayed one night because it’s close to the airport, and that was fine; the staff were very friendly.

The location was great and the staff were super attentive, offering good value. The only downside was that breakfast only had Cambodian dishes; they did make eggs on request, but I’d have liked some orange juice and bread.
