Our stay at this hotel had a peculiar, almost clique-like atmosphere, where it seemed the same guests returned annually, giving it an unconventional vibe, reminiscent of a scene from a fiction novel. The beds, a crucial aspect of any accommodation, were the most uncomfortable we encountered during our seven-country tour, making a restful night's sleep a challenge. Storage space was also an issue, with no designated area for our secondary luggage except the floor by the entrance. The culinary experience was mostly enjoyable, with the exception of one disappointing meal - the gnocchi, which, although delicious on its own, was marred by a sauce containing a gritty texture, later revealed to be a large, jagged piece of broken ceramic from the serving dish. This disturbing discovery was met with a nonchalant response from the head kitchen staff, who merely acknowledged the issue without further comment or apology. The overall service was lacking in warmth, with the male owner making a minimal effort to engage, while his wife, who doesn't speak English, remained aloof throughout our stay. This unusual, awkward experience felt far removed from the typical bed-and-breakfast atmosphere, leaving us with an enduring sense of discomfort and a hope to never repeat it.
