The authentic vibe, the meals, and the onsens were great, but you’ll need a car or to check train and bus schedules to reach the place.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the dining room food was outstanding—varied, beautifully prepared, and delicious, the free night tour to the nearby vine bridge and waterfall was fun, the outdoor hot springs were breathtakingly beautiful, and the funicular ride was a blast.
