“Nice rooms but problematic dinner situation”

Great rooms but the dinner situation is a major problem. The hotel does not have enough capacity to serve dinner to all hotel guests. At the same time, there are very few restaurants in town and many of them are pre-booked completely. Even the convenience store is closing. We ended up having a lot of food anxiety. One hotel employee from the reception hang up on us on the phone on purpose, because I was unwilling to make a reservation for us

The room was nice and spacious, but it came with a price. In the first night we found a cockroach in the room, and the hotel offered no apology. The staff were generally inflexible and communication was hard. The night before, you had to choose a breakfast time in advance, and a spontaneous dinner at the hotel wasn’t possible. The hotel is very noisy; you can hear neighbors’ calls and conversations. The ladies’ sauna smells very musty.

We loved our stay at Monjusou—the hotel, rooms, property, and service were amazing. It was so clean and beautiful, the onsen spa was incredible, and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Nothing to dislike.
