The location is great, breakfast is good, and the hotel itself is very clean, but the bed was so springy that I worried I might bounce off it.

The location is lovely and you can walk to places like Place Fell, Helvellyn, and Sheffield Pike; Glenridding is a quick walk down the road, and it’s convenient to leave your car parked for two days. Breakfasts are good with plenty of options, and you can dine in the bar or restaurant – the food is good. Staff are helpful and efficient. Rooms are comfortable, and you can request extra tea and coffee at reception. The double beds feel small, and sleeping at the back of the hotel means you’ll hear early‑morning and late‑evening noise if you leave the window open.
