I’d recommend this place for its tour organization and overall fantastic experience.
“Great staff and beautiful scenery!”
The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating—Sky Airlines misplaced one of our bags on a flight that wouldn’t arrive until the next day, but Jorge, the manager, personally went to the airport to retrieve it for us; everyone was friendly, the food was good, our Lake Sandoval tour was fantastic with Mario as our guide who felt like a friend, and the resort itself is cute with plenty of wildlife, including a sweet parrot named Pepe who bit my husband, which we found amusing; the only downside is that it can be hard to sleep when other guests are loud because the walls are partially made of screens for air circulation, but that isn’t the staff’s fault.
The room was spotless and the staff friendly; hot water was available for showers (just turn the heater to 2), and although the flow wasn’t strong it was fine. There’s no air‑conditioning but a fan kept the February rainy‑season evenings cool enough, and the full‑board meals were decent with a different menu each day, though breakfast was a bit simple.
The location was great, and the lodges and food were perfect, but the staff was very formal and often unavailable; sharing a lodge with another tall person made the double bed feel too small, and it can get noisy at night when people come and go for excursions, though those excursions themselves were great.
The hotel sits right in the middle of the rainforest, letting you see animals roam in the garden, and the on‑site zipline and tree bridge are fun to try; the bathroom was quite basic and the shower could have been better, breakfast was plain with just bread and cheese, and while you can have beer in the evening for $5 a small can, you have to get it from the fridge yourself; the front desk staff didn’t speak English.
