The staff were friendly, the breakfast and evening meal were excellent, and the setting was wonderful, but the Wi‑Fi was outdated.

Our room was lovely, dinner in the evening was great, and the terrace and restaurant offered wonderful views of Dartmoor, but the breakfast was completely chaotic and disorganised. A completely different team than the professional staff who served in the evening handled it; five tables of guests were to be served by five staff members, yet chaos reigned. The cooked breakfast didn’t appear until at least 35 minutes after we had sat down. For some reason it was decided that my partner had asked for a gluten‑free breakfast (he hadn’t!), causing further delay while missing items were brought. Despite many great bakeries in the area, the toast was a processed sliced loaf (supermarket style) and we were offered the two crusts at each end of the loaf in our toast rack! My scrambled egg was over‑salted. Shame, really, after an excellent meal the night before.

It was quiet, but the room only had a patio door and no window.

Great views and location; the en‑suite in our room was a little on the small side. Everything was clean, staff were friendly, and the evening meal and breakfast were good.
