Paradise Sunset Beach

The beach was lovely, private and very quiet. We didn’t see any mention of the steep jungle hike with ropes on either side to reach the property. We were offered motorbike drivers for an extra cost, who dropped us at the hilltop but couldn’t go further because the path was blocked. It was extremely dangerous with both of us carrying over 20 kg of luggage and no place to leave bags near the ferry port. Because of that hike, when we left we had to take a boat taxi that cost $50; it would have been unsafe to hike back up with all our luggage. Our room faced the sun, so it was extremely hot and uncomfortable at night with only a fan to try to cool us down. The mosquito net around the bed had many holes, so we got plenty of bites. There was no food available on the beach between 4–6 pm because the kitchens were closed, which was a shame since we hadn’t eaten all day and there were no shops nearby.

“Most restful place”

The spot is insane—right on the beach, which feels so calm and peaceful. I’d have loved to stay longer than two days because it was so restful, especially since I booked before the high season; I hope the beach stays magical when it gets busier. The manager was very friendly and helpful, and the beds come with mosquito nets (just bring spray for the beach). I liked walking between Saracen Bay and Sunset Beach; the signs are plenty and it only takes 30 minutes. I’ll definitely come back sometime! I know it’ll be livelier during the high season when all activities resume, but I’m glad I came now instead.

“Reposant et magnifique”

The tranquility and isolation of Sunset Beach were great. Nothing unexpected (note that there is no hot water).

Beautiful location, clean contemporary rooms and lovely food. The location is a paradise. Could look to get ac in the rooms in the future

“Niet best”

The staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, every lock was too rusty to use, so you couldn’t lock the toilet, bathroom, or your own room. The fan barely works. There’s no reception and the poor Wi‑Fi changes its password every two hours even when no one is around. In low season only three restaurants are open on this side of the island, and they barely have anything. Walking to the beach takes about 45 minutes over steep hills and through jungle, and Google Maps gives wrong directions, so you often end up lost. The beach is cleaner on the other side of the island.
