The spot is well placed next to the subway, bus stops, and restaurants, and the kitchen is fully equipped. However, the place is getting worn out with cracked toilet seats, holes in the ceiling, a broken front door lock, and a noisy dorm; the private double required going down a set of stairs for the toilet, had no air‑conditioning, and was noisy.

The owner was charming and gave great local food suggestions; the kitchen and living area were spotless, bathrooms were clean, and the spot is great—20 minutes on foot from the center but away from Gion’s chaos. The hostel room had a slight damp smell, but for the price and convenience it was acceptable.
