Although not in the core of the reserve, Samburu itself is the highlight of this Kenya trip, and the hotel is a major chain with many birds inside. The food is a bit lacking, and the service feels somewhat stiff.

The staff were nice and the design was good, but the buffet food was basic; during the dry season few animals were near the hotel, so you had to drive to the river where other hotels are located.

The lodge’s beautiful spot in the Samburu National Reserve and the waterhole for wildlife, plus the staff’s hospitality, were highlights, but the food quality and pricing were disappointing.
