Pretty much everything was great – the swimming pool, cabana rooms, concierge and valet parking service, and the restaurant staff.

“Go elsewhere”

The location is interesting and the hotel’s history make it attractive. In my personal scale of values it is not worth the steep price at all. For the same money there are much better options in safer areas. The room we got was small with a small bathroom and bad sound proofing. When walking over the carpet, I stepped on a residual snack chip on the floor. Other guests slamming doors was to be heard clearly as well as someone else’s water tap running. The pool is populated by loud people and inattentive staff. The maintenance is borderline with doors that don’t shut properly, windows so dirty you can’t see through, paint patches on the wall that tell stories of unskilled or uncaring labour. The reception is so dark, you can hardly see the person at the counter. I have a personal issue with valet parking and intensely dislike the system. 75 $ to occupy space and being treated like an idiot as soon as you step on the premise by someone who fancy themselves important because they wear a uniform, is just not my thing. And “it’s the policy” just does not fly for me. Overall a very disappointing experience I don’t care to repeat

“Central Hollywood location”

The location is great—central to Hollywood—and the hotel’s history is fabulous, with friendly staff. However, the room wasn’t ready even though we arrived an hour after check‑in, and other guests shared the same complaint. I had prepaid for a drinks offer and had confirmed with Reception that I could use it at the bar while waiting for my room, but the bar staff couldn’t process it, which was awkward and a bit disappointing. Late‑night cocktails were also delayed because the bar was short‑staffed, so we couldn’t fully enjoy the drinks package and would have liked more cocktails served promptly.

“A comfortable, historic Hollywood hotel with a wonderful pool; pack earplugs for a poolside cabana”

The hotel’s heart‑of‑Hollywood location is fantastic and the interior feels surprisingly peaceful. I appreciated the rich history, comfortable rooms, and the great pool area, and the rooms are dark enough to be ideal for sleeping. The downside is that the poolside cabanas are noisy—you can hear doors, footsteps, and conversations—so bring earplugs if you stay in one.
