The staff were very welcoming, and the ryokan sits right next to a bus stop—just a 5‑minute walk from Hakone‑Yumoto station. The whole experience, from the room to the meals and the onsen, was superb.

It’s a very typical Japanese place, beautifully cozy, and the onsens are fascinating. The culture is different, and the breakfast is heavily traditional Japanese—this is the hotel’s concept, and they explain it well before you check in.

A genuinely lovely ryokan; we got a room by the river that we adored. The staff were warm and helpful, and I’d stay here again. The only downside is that the rooms are designated for smokers.

The variety of pools, the food, and the service from Miyamae were all outstanding. Even when a storm caused water issues, they did everything they could to make us comfortable.

A classic ryokan with friendly, attentive staff and a gorgeous private onsen—especially outdoors—and the meals were great. The building feels a bit worn and could use a facelift, but the rooms themselves are fine.
