The Maverick Inn, Alpine, is a motel situated less than 1 mile from Sul Ross State University, offering seasonal outdoor swimming pool access and rooms with free Wi-Fi. Guest rooms feature Southwestern décor, Mexican-inspired architecture, flat-screen TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, and complimentary bottled water and coffee service. On-site BBQ facilities and proximity to Museum of the Big Bend and Kokernot Field and Park make it an ideal choice.

The spot is good for Big Bend NP, the beds are comfortable with a good mattress, but the pool was unfortunately closed, check‑in couldn’t be done on site, and the windows wouldn’t slide open.

I’m back at the Maverick Inn after 13 years, and this visit felt even better than the first. The room was spotless and quiet, and parking for my motorcycle was spot on. I’m eager to see the renovations scheduled for May 2026 and hope to return once they’re finished.

We had a full kitchen available, but the pool was empty and the lobby was closed, forcing us to check in at their sister property, The Holland.
