Amaru Valle Hotel

The hotel was very beautiful, the space was large, and the staff were eager to help with luggage. Breakfast was the best I’ve had in any Peruvian hotel—crisp bread, tasty orange juice, and freshly made eggs. Unfortunately, I mistakenly ordered a fried egg; because I’m allergic to raw eggs, I didn’t eat much and hope the staff aren’t upset. I think you’re doing great, and if I get the chance I’d love to try scrambled eggs. The location is inconvenient: the hotel gate closes at night, the surrounding area is pitch dark, and it’s scary—probably not ideal for solo female travelers.

“Pudo ser mucho mejor”

I was hoping for a buffet breakfast, but it turned out to be a basic continental. The setting and architecture are lovely, yet getting there is tiring because the slope makes it at least three blocks from the bottom. We arrived around 7 pm and everything was dark and dim; no one was there to help with our bags. We had to carry them all the way up the stairs into the room. The receptionist didn’t know how to handle the reservation or card payment and kept calling someone else on the phone for explanations. Because of that, we decided to cancel one of the two nights we had booked. The next day, no one was available to bring down the luggage either, so we had to haul it ourselves even though we were dressed for a wedding.

A beautiful property with high‑quality equipment, a lockable parking spot, and a short walk to the plaza. We really liked the Urubamba location and could have stayed a day longer.
