The location was closer to my destination.
“It was acceptable, and Siyabonga Ntakwende and his staff were very helpful.”
The staff, especially Assistant Manager Mr Siyabonga Ntakwende, was a delight to deal with; he helped make the stay bearable after a lightning strike left us without power, and we were upgraded to a room with electricity for the rest of the trip. He also assisted us in accessing the hot springs, which were not open to day visitors until 12/1, and we’re very grateful. The rooms were clean, but the attention to detail could have been better: curtains that don’t close properly, bed frills tucked into the mattress, a duvet that wasn’t straight after being made, and towels with bleach stains—all small things that could have made a big difference to the first impression. We weren’t told about the amazing kitchen facilities and ended up cooking in the microwave; after speaking to Siyabonga, he mentioned that the cooks would have happily prepared anything with the groceries we had bought.
The staff were friendly and helpful, but the cottage we stayed in needs renovation to look more like the newer rooms on the premises.
The spot was well‑situated, though the facilities felt a bit outdated, yet they remained clean and tidy.
I liked the braai area with TV and the sound system connection; the photos uploaded for bookings need to be updated regularly to avoid misbooking, such as mismatched room types and separate single bad rooms.
