Beautiful, peaceful setting surrounded by nature. The camp is new, clean and well presented. We really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and feel the place has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing due to the lack of clear information regarding the game drives. Game drives were advertised as an activity , but there was no clear indication that our two-year-old would not be allowed to join. We only found out about the children’s restrictions after booking and paying. We were offered an alternative, but when we tried to arrange it, we were told our daughter still could not participate. As the game drive was an important part of our reason for booking, this ultimately led us to check out after only one night instead of staying for the planned three nights. We raised our concerns directly with the Manager and emailed him as requested, but despite being told we would receive an answer, we still have not received any response from management

“Fantastisch!!!!”

We ended up staying not at this camp but at the nearby Valley Lodge. A booking mishap gave us a free upgrade to Valley Lodge, which was arranged nicely in advance. I can’t say anything about Matatane Camp itself, but I recommend Valley Lodge to everyone. The staff are fantastic, the food is wonderful, and the facilities are great. The Babanango game reserve (where both Valley Lodge and Matatane Camp are located) is the most beautiful reserve we’ve seen on our trip through South Africa. It has a lion‑king‑like setting and we saw amazing things there, including cheetahs and lions. I recommend everyone go there!
