Nestled in Hohenschwangau beneath Neuschwanstein Castle, Hotel Alpenstuben is a family‑run, traditional inn offering free Wi‑Fi and a sunny terrace. Country‑house rooms feature flat‑screen satellite TV, some with castle views. Guests enjoy a continental breakfast and regional dinner, while both castles and the ticket office lie just a short walk away.

The location was excellent; one of the double rooms we booked had floor‑to‑ceiling windows that offered a direct view of the New Swan Castle, which was stunning. The hotel’s parking is on the opposite side of the street; after check‑in you receive a small card to place in front of the windshield to park. If you’re only staying one night, it’s worth visiting the High Swan Castle on the first day, then leaving after breakfast the next morning and taking a leisurely carriage to the New Swan Castle—no rush to return to the hotel to check out. The carriage pickup point is on the opposite side of the hotel. Unfortunately, there’s no elevator, so you have to carry luggage up and down the stairs, and the bathroom is a bit small.

The balcony view is spectacular! Just remember there’s no lift on site, so you’ll have to carry your luggage up the stairs.

Fabulous! Amazing location with views of the Castle. Very comfortable clean accommodation, friendly staff and delicious food in the restaurant
