“Schrecklich, trotz Top-Lage”
The hotel sits in a great spot if you’re arriving light on luggage, but we had a lot of bags and two old dogs, one of which had to be carried. The public parking, which you pay for yourself, is half a kilometre away, so we walked back and forth four times to move everything from point A to point B. The room is on the second floor of a little town side‑house, which made carrying things even harder because there’s no lift. Breakfast is on the shopping street, just around the corner, two minutes on foot, but it feels very impersonal. You check in at the restaurant on the shopping street, then turn the corner into the building and into your room. When you register you receive a card that says “basic breakfast” – even though we paid the extra €162 for a good room. The basic breakfast included a lukewarm cup of coffee in a 2.5 cm high cup with milk in a mini‑pack, like on a plane, a cheap bread roll, plastic jam, and a hard‑boiled egg that was cold as stone. If you want more, you have to pay extra – we ended up going to a café next door. The shock came when we inspected the bed: the mattress had a huge urine stain, and one of the duvets had a blood stain. When we reported it, the waiter said, “You should have looked.” The same waiter had scolded us earlier at breakfast for taking a corner seat that still had some leftover mess on it… all in all, it was a rough experience. The location, parking, bed hygiene, service staff, breakfast, and value for money were all terrible – even the location didn’t make up for it.
