“Molta sostanza, poca apparenza.”
The hotel is located along the road from Trento, a few hundred meters from the center, reachable on foot in 5 minutes, and the Ghezzi is a simple, functional hotel with all useful services, including an external parking lot large enough for all guests and a basement room for bicycles for those who, like my son, come to Andalo to ride a mountain bike. For families with small children, the hotel also offers “technical” strollers with large, patterned wheels suitable for mountain trails. The rooms are clean, have essential furnishings, and the small bathroom is functional and well equipped. The terrace is nice and spacious with a chair to relax in the shade. The common areas are adequate and well maintained, with a large restaurant used for breakfasts and a snack bar with tables also on an outdoor veranda. The reception staff are very friendly, efficient, and generous with advice and information about local attractions. Breakfast is abundant and caters to all tastes, both Mediterranean, Central European, and American, with a wide selection of savory and sweet options. The quiet at night, the view from our room overlooking a well‑maintained garden shared with a nearby hotel, and the good value for money all contributed to a positive experience that we’ll likely repeat on our next stay in Andalo. The less convincing aspect was the quality of the breakfast, which didn’t match the quantity, especially in the sweet section (pancakes were hard and cold and should be avoided). Other details could be improved, such as the bathroom layout where the toilet is tucked behind the sink’s cabinet, leaving little legroom for people with longer legs (I had to touch the cabinet with my knees), the lack of a wall hook for hanging a towel or pajama, and a wooden shelf next to the bed that I often risked bumping my head against in the dark. These are minor details of little importance.
