The Empress Hotel

The hotel’s location is great, just a stone’s throw from the metro. My room was roomy and tidy, and they gave a complimentary drink every day. On the downside, the staff didn’t respond quickly enough. I left my thermos in the room and forgot to pick it up when I checked out. I sent messages and emails to the hotel but got no reply, so I had to ask a friend in Daejeon to go to reception to ask about it, but the staff said they hadn’t found it and didn’t contact housekeeping.

“Great hotel to stay in Daejeon”

The room was brand new and fully equipped, featuring a brand‑new toilet with bidet, a small fridge stocked with free drinks, and a bathtub with toiletries. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, offering both Korean and international options for all kinds of travelers. The hotel is also very close to Wolpyeong subway station, which is great for getting around. The only downside is that there was no washing machine or laundry facilities, and the check‑in time of 5 pm is quite late, with extra fees for early check‑in.

The staff were friendly and the Korean buffet lived up to expectations; the location was decent and the spacious room was impressive, but the amenities became paid services—make sure to check that, as the toothbrush and toothpaste were cheap but the extra set was a bit pricey; the elevator’s 9th‑floor down button was hard to press, some spots had stuck tape, and the wallpaper looked old.

The breakfast was simple but satisfactory, and the location was great because the hotel sits right in front of Emart Traders, so parking was plenty.

Breakfast was prepared in a variety of ways, so I ate well and headed to work. I was disappointed that free skin lotion was not provided.
