The spot is handy, and the front patio is a nice touch, but the hotel’s layout forces you up several flights of stairs just to reach your room. The rooms themselves are tiny, and the staff add extra charges for almost everything—£5 to store luggage for a couple of hours, £30 for a 1 PM checkout, and other fees that add up.

Mandolay is a charming hotel boasting bright, modern rooms and a welcoming reception area. The rooms stay warm, the beds are super comfortable, and the staff are helpful and friendly. We’ve visited many times for GLive and never felt disappointed. The food—both dinner and breakfast—was excellent, and the hotel is within walking distance of the town centre with plenty of parking.

From the moment I arrived, the hotel felt first‑class, especially with the warm welcome. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was tastefully decorated; even without touching any controls, the temperature was spot‑on.
