We had a side sea view that was still super beautiful, and we liked that the place sits at the end of the village; the rooms were clean and the staff super nice.

The Horizon Beach Hotel stands above Plakias' sand and shingle beach, on Rethymno's southern coast, offering stunning bay views. Airy rooms and studios feature sea-view balconies, satellite TVs, and en-suite bathrooms. A buffet breakfast patio, bar, and lounge area are available. The hotel is 400m from Plakias' centre, 5 minutes from the main beach, and close to walking, cycling, and water sports.

The view of the sea is beautiful, and breakfast is served in the garden. It’s not easy to find via Google; first search for Plakias, then the hotel.

I stayed in a studio with standard amenities. I appreciated the private parking and the ability to prepare breakfast on my own while listening to the waves. Daily cleaning, towel and linen changes every 3 days. Compared to other accommodations I’ve visited in Crete, I noticed less customer attention; the lack of a washing machine in Plakias is a problem because there are no self‑service washer‑dryers.

I’m on my second visit. The beds are still very good, the view is lovely, and breakfast is delicious. Nothing to add.
