El Patio Courtyard House

El Patio was flawless; the host, a very friendly young man, attended to every detail as if it were his own home. The place sits right in the Medina, close to a main street so taxis are easy to catch. My room and bathroom were spotless, and the bed was super comfy. Hot water worked perfectly and the pressure was great. Breakfast was amazing, freshly made each morning with a lot of care and homemade dishes. It’s the only Dar in all of Tunisia that cleaned and tidied the room every day. We’d definitely come back.

“Appena andati via, già vorremmo ritornare!”

The Dar inside the medina was wonderful, with furniture meticulously arranged. The room was spacious and had air‑conditioning. The staff were friendly, smiling, and always ready to help. Breakfast was generous and freshly prepared with love. The location was ideal for exploring the city; we stayed for 5 nights and everything was perfect. There’s an option to book a private transfer from the airport when you arrive: it’s pricier than a regular taxi but useful if you’re still getting your bearings in the maze of streets. At night the medina is almost deserted and some streets are dim, but you get used to it quickly and feel comfortable. On our departure day we were able to leave our luggage at the property to do one last stroll around the city before heading back to the airport.

The staff were attentive, the breakfast was very good and served promptly, and everything was very clean.

The staff were wonderful, ensuring I had all the right information and directions to enjoy my time in Tunis. And the breakfast! I can’t overstate how great the daily breakfast was—freshly made items like bread and lemon cake. After that huge, beautiful spread, I didn’t need to eat anything else during the day. I haven’t mentioned the décor yet; it’s a lovely house with really nice rooms and a great bed. Nothing else to complain about. I only had a minor issue getting hot water in the shower, but I eventually found that the handle had to be turned forward for hot and backward for cold.

“Hidden gem of a Dar”

A beautiful traditional Dar in a superb location; if you’re after good facilities with lovely staff in a more personal setting, this is it. We used the private car from the airport, which was more expensive than a taxi but brought us right to the door—taxis won’t enter the Medina, especially at 11 pm when you need to get to the door. Breakfast was home‑cooked, very tasty, and plentiful. I can’t think of anything negative; it worked perfectly for us.
