“Great apartment, responsive host, dodgy street.”
The property was very clean, the room was large, and the bathroom and balcony were nice. Access was easy and the host’s instructions were clear. It’s self‑check‑in, so you get a code to unlock the door, which is handy if your flight is late. The only downside was the location: it’s a good spot being a 10‑minute walk to the historic centre and a 3‑minute walk to Garibaldi train station. Because it’s so close to the station, the area feels rough and unsafe to walk around at any hour, especially at night. Garibaldi has a high crime rate and every evening police and military patrol all four corners of the station. There were shady people hanging around the apartment block’s doorway. We were a young couple and my boyfriend is a big man, which made me feel a bit safer, but even he was nervous. You constantly feel watched walking down the street, and we didn’t meet a single Italian living on that street or in the area. That said, I’ve stayed in central Naples before and you’ll find it hard to find a place where you feel completely safe in the city. I wouldn’t recommend this street or the Garibaldi area to solo travellers or women’s groups, as I don’t think it’s a wise risk.
