Shogetsu Grand Hotel features indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, a sauna, and Western/Japanese-style rooms with gorge views. Located in Jozankei's hot-spring district, the hotel offers air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, and en-suite bathrooms. Traditional multi-course dinners and Japanese set breakfasts are served. The hotel is 50 minutes from JR Sapporo Train Station and 30 minutes from Sapporo International Ski Resort.

We enjoyed an in‑room free‑flowing onsen straight from the source and a fantastic dinner menu over the two nights, but the staff on the first night couldn’t explain the dinner course properly and the lounge offered only a few food and drink options.

The 2021 renovation really shows in the charm and beautiful decor, making the stay truly outstanding for the price paid for the room, dinner, and breakfast with all the lounge drinks and treats. If you’re thinking about an Onsen visit, it’s definitely worth it. The only downside was the pillows, which were very small; the hotel should offer a more deluxe Queen‑size option.
