A cozy little hotel that feels personal; every detail was great, the staff were super friendly and the garden was gorgeous. The only downside was the night sounds—whistling frogs, crickets and thrashers that never seem to sleep. If you’re not used to that, bring earplugs.

Montpelier sits beautifully on a hillside, offering stunning views, private villas, and impeccably presented bar and restaurant spaces that give a sense of space, comfort, and luxury. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were flawless, served beautifully and presented with grace. The estate has a lively, friendly vibe, with staff who are happy to chat and offer great suggestions for other restaurants and bars. We also appreciated that they arranged our rental car for us upon arrival, something we had intended to book but didn’t have time for; everything was handled with a smile. We met the owner, who was delightful, and I’m sure we’ll stay in touch and return. Montpelier also has a private beach about a 10‑minute drive away; a mini‑bus will take you there, but we used our hire car. The beach is a special spot with hammocks, huts, plenty of sun beds, and a shaded bar area. I spent many hours reading in the water, and it was the perfect escape. There was nothing to complain about—staff were quietly efficient, fixing our room while we were at breakfast or after the pool or beach. In the evening, the room was turned down while we were out. The bathroom products were divine, and I had no complaints, not even minor ones.

Breakfast was excellent, included in the rate, very fresh, and offered a wide variety of choices. The property felt small and very quiet, and the bar and restaurant closed by 9 pm every night.
