“Solid central location for exploring & close to La Concha Playa”

When I booked, I wondered why every place in SS was so expensive. On arrival I learned it was “Semana Grande” (Big Week, Aste Nagusia) and I had no idea because I’d just come from Bilbao mainly for the solar eclipse two days earlier. So SS was crazy compared to other times I’ve been there. The location was great and the room was as expected—spartan but modern, comfortable, and apparently updated recently. The staff were friendly. There was central A/C piped into the room, but it wasn’t very strong; at least because SS is on the coast it didn’t get hot. Finally, the old‑school elevator was pretty wacky with many moving parts.

The pension was lovely, clean, and situated on the edge of the old town, just a 2‑minute walk to La Concha. I couldn’t get the air conditioning to work, but it wasn’t hot and the hostess asked if I was comfortable.
