“It was a comfy bed although no staff anywhere”

The hotel is close to the train station, but there was nobody to help with any problems—just a woman who stayed hidden around the corner until we reached our room.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean, there was plenty of tea and coffee, and the place was nice and well‑located. The toilet and shower need an upgrade, but I think work is already starting to fix that. All in all, it’s a good place to stay.

The location was great, but the room was damp, cold, and had wallpaper peeling off, showing obvious damage from previous guests. The door couldn’t close because the top hinge wasn’t secure, the windows wouldn’t shut or lock properly, and we had stayed before in an ensuite that was perfect for an overnight trip—this time we were very, very disappointed. It’s a shame given the ideal spot near the beach, restaurants, and pubs; the place needs updating.

Everything was within walking distance, the staff were friendly, and the cleanliness was reasonable for the type of property. Getting in touch with the staff was fine, but the checkout instructions were not particularly clear or easy.
