La Tanda, a century‑old stone country house in Parque Nacional de Ponga, Taranes, offers two levels with bedrooms, bathrooms, a fireplace lounge, flat‑screen TV, and a fully equipped kitchen. Everything was perfect. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and has everything you need, even better than the photos. The surroundings, the village, its people, and all the animals nearby are lovely. Jacinto was very friendly and attentive whenever we needed anything. We’ll definitely come back.

The house faces the village of Taranes, about 25 minutes by car from Cangas de Onis in the Ponga natural park, and it was cleaned just before we arrived. The glass‑faced veranda looks out onto Taranes and the mountains, and the accommodation offers several beds and sofas. Kitchenware is supplied. Chickens live below, especially a few small spotted ones that kids might enjoy. It’s a good base for walks in the Ponga park, and the drive to and from Cangas de Onis isn’t bad. Only the last few kilometres are a bit trickier (narrow road, no passing), but we managed fine with a Scenic. The Cangas de Onis–Tanda route is gorgeous in the gorges, and you might spot birds of prey. To head to Oviedo, Gijón, or Luanco, you can take the Tanda–Cangas de Onis–Arriondas road, but the AS339 Sellano–Sebares route offers scenery worth seeing. The Wi‑Fi signal is pretty weak inside the house; it’s better on the terrace or in the veranda.

The views are stunning and the sense of peace feels like being cut off from the world. The only downside is that there’s no bathroom on the ground floor, and the floor upstairs creaks with every step you take, but that’s not a big deal.

The view, the little house, everything was there—really relaxing. Nothing else bothered me, just the beds are really short; we had to adjust them for a 2‑meter length, but we had anticipated that.

I stumbled upon a true rural haven surrounded by nothing but open air, a genuine farmhouse with a long heritage and breathtaking views; the place feels authentically rustic, no network coverage, and the neighboring chicken coop is right next to the house. They sold us eggs that were absolutely delicious. The arrival itself was an adventure, especially the last few kilometers of road with a stunning landscape. We've stayed in many rural homes, and this one is definitely in our top five.
