I liked only the location, but the facilities were in bad shape: the mini‑fridge was rusted, the toilet was heavily used, the bathroom tap leaked constantly, the bedside table support was broken, and the bathroom door was rotted and wouldn’t close properly. Pigeons in the ceiling made noise all night, and the bar had no set hours; the attendant left at lunch to pick up her kids and no one was left to serve guests, closing the bar and locking the beer fridges with chains so even other staff couldn’t help us.

The beach is literally at the doorstep, so hearing the waves at night was pleasant. There are restaurants, a pharmacy, and a beach for a short walk nearby. Staying for one night is acceptable, and parking is available. I had high hopes from the photos and the promise of a beachfront lodge, but the reality is that the water in that spot is too rough for swimming, the beach is narrow and prone to waves, so only very good swimmers should try it. We didn’t feel safe going in or even sitting there. The photo of a nice path to the sea turned out to be a dirty, neglected trail. The room was dirty, with pigeon feathers on the windowsill next door, and the hallway and window were covered in pigeon droppings. The duvet had cigarette holes, which was off-putting. There was no breakfast, the bar was closed that weekend, and the pool was unappealing because to enjoy a day you’d have to leave and drive to find other beaches.

“Não recomendo passar mais de 1 noite, não dá.”

The location is close to a market, pharmacy, little bars, and a gas station. The room smelled of mold throughout, the furniture and bed had a musty odor, the mattresses were excessively worn and caused back pain, there was a water leak near the toilet, and the air conditioner was very noisy.

The lodge, as the name suggests, is on the beach with direct access. The water in that stretch is rough, so caution is needed, but the area feels almost private; you cross a lawn and you’re already on the sand. Being on the seafront, waking up to the sound of waves is delightful. It’s also easy to reach downtown Caraguá, other beaches like Massaguaço and Cocanha, and the Ubatuba route. Near the lodge is a boulevard with shops, bars, restaurants, and a bakery that’s great and walkable. Parking is available. The staff—Aparecida, Raquel, and Felipe—are excellent and make you feel at home. The lodge is simple; the room is a bit small, but sufficient for a couple. There’s a maid’s room with two beds, which could be useful if you have children.
