I liked the location and the price, but the rooms were noisy.

I was extremely disappointed with how a genuine safety concern was handled. Arriving alone late at night, I found my room door unlocked. When I tried to lock it from inside, the mechanism seemed loose and pushed in, and there was no information explaining that the door was designed to automatically lock from the outside. As a solo female traveller arriving in the middle of the night, I had no reasonable way of knowing that the room was actually secure. I ultimately had to barricade the door with the minibar fridge and my luggage. I did not sleep that night and was so uncomfortable that I didn't even properly use the room. I contacted management the following morning and explained the situation in detail. Interestingly, the manager wasn’t immediately familiar with how the self‑locking system operated either. I later followed up in writing and requested a refund because I had paid for accommodation I was unable to reasonably use or enjoy. The response I received was simply: “We provided a safe and secure unit and therefore not obligated to refund.” No apology, no acknowledgement of how frightening or confusing the situation was for a guest arriving alone at night, and no attempt at a goodwill resolution. I understand that the door may technically have been secure. That isn’t the point. The issue was that there was no obvious way for a guest to know that, and the hotel provided no explanation or instructions for a locking system that was clearly not intuitive. I would strongly suggest management provide clear instructions for this type of door so another guest doesn’t find themselves in the same situation. The way this concern was handled afterwards was just as disappointing as the original problem. I would not stay here again.
