We booked a single night to keep traveling early the next day, and the hotel was almost empty. At 6 am checkout the next morning we were hit with the restaurant closed for breakfast, a sign hanging on chains saying “We apologize, we’re back tomorrow.” We paid R$ 484,00 to stay in a room with an air conditioner that barely worked in over 38 °C heat, and we didn’t get breakfast. When we asked the receptionist about it he handed us a paper asking us to write a complaint and said the person in charge of breakfast would be late or might not know if they’d work because of a family death. We told him that didn’t justify the situation, that we were in a hotel and the room rate included breakfast, and we asked for a refund. He replied that he works at reception and couldn’t answer about another department. It was a very constraining situation. The truth is we weren’t asking about refunds or benefits, but to truly evaluate how professional the service was, and obviously we understood that it was a contracted and prepaid right. A very complex and surreal situation, to say the least. The lack of preparation, attention, professionalism, and hotel structure.
