The host was excellent, the accommodation superb, and it’s close to the centre. Everything was excellent.

The host was friendly, the place exceptionally clean, and it’s very close to frequent bus routes into Oxford. The only drawback is the shower tap – a slight turn, even accidental, will suddenly turn the water very hot.

I had booked and was ready to check in a few minutes away, but I received a call saying the place wasn’t ready because the host wasn’t around and asked if I could wait 30 minutes. I declined, requested a refund, and she denied the 30‑minute wait, claiming she was in the hospital and wouldn’t refund my hard‑earned money.

“A pleasure to stay in such a grand house”

This historic building, kept magnificently, is on Oxford’s outskirts and within walking distance of the old town; the staff are lovely, the breakfast is delicious and satisfying, the beds are comfy and the pillows are good. The only downside was having to head to the old town for food, as a few restaurants or pubs closer would have been nice; that was our problem, not theirs.

“great place for a few nights and relatively private.”

I’ve stayed here before and will stay again because it’s self‑contained, comfortable, and has everything you need for a couple of nights; the welcome was warm, the place feels safe and comfortable, and the bus stop for the city is just a short walk away with a bus every 15 minutes, which is really handy.
