The hotel was stunning—very cozy and welcoming, beautifully decorated, and the design is both comfortable and well thought out. Nothing was lacking; everything was perfect.

“Cosy pub, lovely location if you have a car or can walk. Very comfortable bed.”

The place was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the pub and garden were lovely, with great service. It felt a bit remote for my trip (my fault – poor planning). There was a strong string fish smell upstairs and in the bedroom, which was very unpleasant. The bathroom fan seemed to run all the time, but it was quiet enough when the door was closed.

“Lovely pub, nice location and friendly staff”

The pub is just outside Henley and the rooms are comfy; the food was decent and they had a good selection of draft beers. A few of us stayed in rooms inside the pub, while others were in a converted outbuilding just beyond, which was actually preferable if you have a lot of luggage because there are no stairs. You can walk a short distance down to the river and then follow the Thames path into town, or let the pub staff arrange a taxi for you. The only snag was that my room wasn’t made up after the first night – I might have left the key or asked for it to be done, but it was a minor inconvenience in an otherwise very enjoyable stay.

We started off well communicating, but after chatting with the owner at check‑out we accidentally left the room key behind. We didn’t notice until the hotel called us hours later. We were walking the Thames Path, in the middle of a field, and they suggested we call a taxi. We explained we could return the key once we reached our next destination. They seemed quite dismissive. Once we got to the next town we arranged for a taxi to deliver the key back to them and informed them of this. We asked to be notified when the key was returned (it should have taken about 40 minutes), but we never received any confirmation. We understand the initial slip was ours, yet we were extremely disappointed by their lack of follow‑up after we went out of our way to return the key.

“Lovely. Kind staff.”

The outdoor area was great for Sunday meals. On Monday they were closed, which caused some confusion about transporting luggage for our walking vacation, but everything worked out after a brief mix‑up.
