The location was convenient, even great, but nothing else was enjoyable; the staff were kind, but that’s all. I arrived at 11:30 and waited more than 30 minutes because no one answered the intercom or the phone; finally I managed to contact someone who kindly explained how to get in. I don’t like that they sent the documents via WhatsApp as requested, it should be handed over in person. The room looked clean at first glance, but when I put towels on the inside window ledge they were completely dusty and sticky; in the bathroom I found hair in the bidet, the exhaust fan was clogged and full of dust, and there was no mini‑shampoo. In the corridor the rooms smelled of smoke and I wondered why smoking isn’t prohibited in these areas. At 7:30 am there were all kinds of commotion from guests entering and leaving and from the staff. Luckily I only had to stay one night, and at least the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. I would advise the managers to enforce cleaning standards, because they’re apparently being shortchanged on the cleaning fee. For €98, including the tourist tax, maybe a bit more care is warranted, especially since we’re in the Vatican Museums area with many tourists. Cleanliness is essential; everything else can be secondary. Breakfast? Let that be personal preference.
