“Beautiful and characterful site”

The Mansion itself has been restored beautifully and is worth visiting in its own right. The room and bathroom finishes were of a high standard. We much appreciated being met at the station and being dropped off at the hotel. (Also the return trip.). The hanging space in the bathroom was limited

“Maravilla de hotel pero desayuno muy pobre”

The hotel looks stunning, but the continental breakfast was very poor and didn't live up to expectations; communicating with staff was difficult because of the language barrier.

“Tolle Unterkunft in einem historischen Gebäude der Altstadt”

A dream of a historic property, full of charm, spread across several courtyards in the heart of Pingyao’s old town, away from the somewhat noisy South Street; the room opened onto the courtyard, making it very quiet; everything was top‑modern, especially the toilet whose lid opened when the door was just ajar; there were free drinks and fruit; the staff were very friendly and attentive; English posed no problem thanks to a translation device that worked much better than typical phone apps; a free transfer to and from the hotel was provided; a small gift was even given at departure. The western breakfast could have offered more.

It’s a beautiful site, with efficient service and staff, yet the western breakfast is always the same and inferior to the Chinese option.
