Costa Avithos

The staff, location and pool were great, but the kitchen and bathroom were old, shabby, and the whole area desperately needs a renovation.

The staff were amazing, friendly and caring, and the location offered a fantastic view over the beach and the sea. It was still warm at the end of September and not crowded. The sunsets from the beach, with a little cocktail bar, were stunning, and there were two lovely restaurants nearby. The pool was spacious, and the wooden pergola and veranda provided pretty views. The only downside was the single beds squeaking; it would have been nice to have basic kitchen items like salt, pepper and a large chef’s knife.

“Amazing location in a great part of Kefalonia!”

The location was amazing, just a short walk to a great beach where we saw sea turtles hatching. Breakfast options were a bit tough; you have to bring your own food if you want to wake up early and grab a coffee and a bite.

We had to book this place on very short notice after a bad experience elsewhere. I texted via Booking in the evening asking about the earliest check‑in, and Penny answered and arranged it without any hassle. When we arrived, Kristian welcomed us, was extremely friendly and professional, and we were blown away by the quality and standard of the grounds and the location in a gated complex just a stone’s throw from a glorious beach. We received a sea‑view room upgrade, though we’d have been happy with the garden room we’d booked. The accommodation inside was incredible, spread over three floors, with superb decoration and facilities, fresh and inviting; one of the most comfortable hotel beds we’ve ever slept in. It was cleaned and maintained to a very high standard, and we couldn’t hear any noise from adjacent rooms. The outside areas were exceptional: the large pool was cleaned daily, there were multiple sitting areas, well lit and maintained to a very high standard. We felt like we had the place to ourselves even though other guests were there; we rarely saw anyone else. A short walk down the hill led to two tavernas, both serving delicious and reasonably priced food. The beach area was fantastic, a very long sandy beach with shallow waters, extremely clean and beautiful. There was a beach bar and a place to rent beds if needed. Great views of planes landing at the airport, with very minimal noise at the beach and none at all in the apartment. It took us ten minutes to get to the airport in the morning for our flight home, and we didn’t want to leave this beautiful hotel. The only negative was having to leave after just two glorious days.

The proximity to the beach, the quiet, the character and architecture of the building, and the infrastructure including a sea‑view pool were all excellent, but the kitchen needs an upgrade with new equipment.
