The front desk staff were lovely and responsive to my needs. The location is very close to most of the activities one desires to do in Avalon. For context, I paid more than $500/night for this room. I booked it last minute, so I expected to pay a bit more. I never expected to be so comically disappointed in how I spent my money. The breakfast was abysmal. The room they served it in was an awkward, tight space with dingy, smelly old carpet. The food was cheap, mass‑produced pastries and burnt coffee. The room itself was small, cramped, humid, with a terrible shower. The shower had incredible water pressure, so much so that I now know exactly how a deck feels when it’s being power‑washed. There was no ability to change the water pressure/spray type and the plumbing switches had degraded because the tub runs as the shower sprays. This created an incredible amount of steam that set off the fire alarm. My toilet broke the first morning and I had to wait a few hours for someone to repair it. The furniture in the room was broken and stained. The small café table could not be used to eat or work on because it was unsteady. There was no hanging rack/shelf or other system to manage wet clothes and towels, which only added to the humidity. The wall AC unit could not be set lower than 68°F and even then, I’m not sure it ever actually reached that temperature. All of the hotel is old and run down. The floors are uneven throughout the facility. There is no elevator. The walls are thin, so you can hear people going up and down the stairs and arguing in the hallway.
